Our first blog involves the establishing of expectations for our year. I have posted an expectations document on our class portal page in the Expectations channel. This document provides information on many of the details related to class - supplies needed, how grades are calculated, how to make up a quiz of you are absent, etc. Understand that this document cannot reflect every situation and answer every question that will come up this year. Thus, this expectations document is a living and working document that will likely be edited and updated throughout the year.
In addition to the detail-based expectations posted on the portal, I also begin the year - and so should you - with a set of expectations at a level higher than homework, grades, and supplies. To me, these are things like how we are going to treat each other and how we are going to work as individuals and as a group to create an environment in which we can share ideas, solve problems, and work together to meet goals.
For our first blog activity, I would like you to visit the portal and read the expectations document. Once you have finished the reading, return to this page and post a comment. Your comment should answer two questions:
1. What expectation jumped out to you as the most important or the one you are going to work the hardest to meet?
2. If you had to create an expectation for our class and add it to the document I created, what would your expectation be?
When you have finished your comment, make sure to click on “Publish your Comment”. Also, do not forget to email me from the link at the top of our blog home page. Your email should simply acknowledge that you have completed the blog assignment. Thanks.

The expectation that jumped out at me as most important is the one about cheating. If I had to add an expectation on the document it would be about chewing gum and saying you can chew it as long as you keep it in your mouth during class.
I agree with Deon in saying that the expectation that jumped out at me the most would be the expectation about cheating. I would probably make an expectation about coming prepared to class if I had to make another on the document.
I agree with Alex and Deon. I think that the most important expectation is not cheating. This is because it is wrong, and you are taking someones hard work for yours if you cheat, which is not fair. If i were to add a rule i would say that you have to be quiet while the teacher is talking. This is so that you can hear what the teacher is saying, and you will not miss anything!!
The expectation that jumped out to me was quiz and test corrections. When I or someone else makes a mistake on a test,I would happily make corrections. If the same kind of problems come up on a test and I still haven't corrected the problem before, who knows what grade I'd get then. I'm not saying that if you don't do corrections you'll fail or never get anything, but you'll learn and grow from your you mistakes, just like life.
I also agree with some of the others about the expectation with cheating. I always thought that we weren't aloud to work together on homework and I thought that if I did the homework by myself I would learn more from it. If I had to add an expectation it would be that you expect us to pay attention in class and not be messing with our computer's during a discussion or lecture.
The expectation that jumped out the most to me would be to work hard. Just like any other subject or life experience working hard gets you to where you wanna be. Especially in Math working hard does truly pay off, because if you work hard on homework tests and quizzes your overall outcome (a good grade) is a indicator of how hard you work.
I agree that the cheating policy does stand out. Another policy that stands out to me is the fact that late homework goes down a whole letter grade if its late. This really stresses the point that we have to get our assigned work done. Another expectation that should be added is to get to class on time with everything you need.
The expectation I am going to work on the most is being able to turn in all my homework on time so I am eligible for extra credit. This will be difficult but I am sure i can accomplish it.
One expectation I would add is talking to the teacher if I am confused or need help on homework. I would add this because it helps us learn how to get help and not being afraid to ask.
The expectation that jumped out the most to me was that we have homework every night. I would probably have an expectation about coming to class with all of your stuff that you need for class
1. The expectation that I believe will be the hardest to meet will probably be asking questions when I do not understand a certain topic in class.
2. The most important goal for our class would be to grow as a group so we understand each other and are able to help in each situation.
